Jewellery Care
Tidal Studio Jewellery includes a range of different metals, stones & delicate beads. All of our pieces are made from sterling silver and gold plating consists of a sterling silver base with 14K-18K gold plating depending on the item.
We recommend removing gold plated & jewellery with stones, beads or diamonds before going into the shower, beach or pools. Exposing the jewellery to water and harsh chemicals like perfumes, soaps and lotions will reduce shine which may cause tarnishing and glue to become wet and the setting to loosen. Following this process will ensure the long jeopardy of your jewellery.
Be very mindful when dressing to avoid breakage, due to the delicacy of each piece. Necklaces, bracelets or rings can easily catch on items of clothing. If chains get caught or pulled, they can snap.
Cleaning
Wipe your sterling silver or gold plated jewellery gently with a soft cloth often to keep it clean and free from elements which can cause unavoidable oxidisation & tarnishing from over time. Polishing is best done with a 100% cotton cloth or a specialty polishing cloth (be mindful if using on plated jewellery).
Storage
When you are not wearing your jewellery, it is recommended to keep it in a cool, dark place. Sunlight, heat and moisture can accelerate tarnishing. It is best to store like items together, different metals may react and cause each other to tarnish, fade or change colours. Ensure your pieces are stored in dry areas and kept in a jewellery box or on display in a space that won't allow the pieces to be scratched or exposed to chemicals.
